Job Description

Main responsibilities:

  • The initiation, planning and management of Community Fundraising
  • Fundraising research
  • Management of events around the country


Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • discusses fundraising methods or projects and targets donor group to identify fundraising requirements;
  • discusses possible changes that need to be made in terms of design, price, project delivery, promotion etc. in light of market research with appropriate departments;
  • To liaise with other organisations, mosques and community organisations
  • Proactively seek new funders and individuals or opportunities for donors to contribute towards the organisation through analysis of the charity’s donor base, personal contacts or knowledge of the Muslim community or sector
  • To establish, lead, evaluate, grow and manage a team of volunteers to work with the Charity
  • To develop new funding streams for the charity such as events, exhibitions, conferences, community fundraising, challenges, partnerships and others
  • Cultivate relationships, network and generate income through major donors, events, corporate fundraising and traditional fundraising activities
  • Create, build and develop partnerships within the corporate sector, as well as small to medium businesses/enterprises.
  • To plan, organise, manage, and report on charity events for the organisation
  • To plan, organise, manage, and report on media appeals for the organisation
  • Assist staff in other departments as required in order to facilitate the work of the Charity
  • Help arrange and participate in meetings, conferences and team activities
  • Adhere to stated policies and procedures as per the company handbook, health and safety requirements
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, managers, stakeholders and the general public.
  • Other duties as per the request of Executive Director in the interest of the organisation objectives


General:

  • Takes responsibility for developing own knowledge of programmes, marketing, communications, fundraising and the sector and keeping up to date on new opportunities and developments.
  • Assist staff in other departments as required to facilitate the work of the charity
  • Adhere to stated policies and procedures as per the company handbook, health and safety requirements and management systems.
  • Other duties as per the request of Chair / Executive Director in the interest of the Charity’s objectives


Person Specifications:

  • Strong project management skills and initiative
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise a complicated workload
  • Knowledge of Islamic financial matters (Zakat, Wakf, Qurbani etc.) is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of additional languages, Arabic and Urdu is an advantage.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • Excellence networking and influencing skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent public speaking and presentation skills
  • Good organisation skills
  • Commitment to community and social development values
  • Self motivated and an ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Good independent judgement, strategic vision and ability to challenge constructively
  • Established networks to facilitate branding, PR and fundraising
  • Ability to work confidently with the Executive Director and Board of Trustees to design and deliver the strategic fundraising plan
  • Self confidence to approach donors and funders and ‘make the ask’ as appropriate
  • A creative individual who can galvanise volunteers and staff to overcome challenges and provide solutions laterally


Job Type: Full-time


Salary: £25,000.00-£32,000.00 per year
