Reports To: Director of Culture & Compliance

Position Type: Part-time (Hybrid) with potential to transition to full-time employment

Position Summary
Rabata is seeking a detail-oriented and mission-aligned Accountant to support the organization’s financial operations during a period of growth. This role is responsible for bookkeeping, financial reporting, grant tracking, and audit preparation across Rabata.

The ideal candidate brings nonprofit accounting experience, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work independently while collaborating closely with leadership to ensure financial accuracy, transparency, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate bookkeeping using accrual-based accounting principles for Rabata.
  • Record financial transactions and prepare monthly bank and general ledger reconciliations.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reports for management and board review.
  • Track budgets and provide variance reporting to leadership.
  • Prepare nonprofit financial statements in accordance with the U.S. GAAP.
  • Support year-end audit preparation and respond to auditor requests.
  • Track and report on grants, restricted funds, and scholarship expenditures in accordance with funder requirements.
  • Maintain financial documentation for audits, compliance, and reporting.
  • Manage organizational subscriptions, vendor records, and purchase documentation.
  • Assist with special projects, systems improvements, and other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of nonprofit accounting experience.
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks Online.
  • Experience preparing nonprofit financial statements.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage deadlines effectively.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience supporting audits or accreditation-related financial reporting.
  • Experience with grant and restricted funds management.
  • Familiarity with higher education or nonprofit compliance environments.
