About Qur’an Halaqah

Qur’an Halaqah is a UK registered charity dedicated to rekindling Muslim women’s relationship with the Qur’an. For more than a decade, QH has created Qur’an-centred spaces through long-term learning, retreats, halaqāt, mentoring, events, publications and the development of women who nurture others. Our next stage is about building the people, systems and income needed to sustain that work while preserving the warmth, sincerity and personal connection at its heart.

The role

Qur’an Halaqah is seeking a practical, relationship-led fundraiser who can turn promising ideas into a focused income pipeline, clear asks and consistent follow-through. This is a hands-on role for someone who can combine fundraising discipline with warmth, good judgement and a genuine understanding of QH’s Qur’an-centred mission. This role is largely remote with occasional in person events in London.

What you will lead

•  Develop and run the Qur’an Champions and Sustainers programmes: shape the supporter journey, recruit new regular donors, steward existing supporters and build consistent follow-up.

•  Build and actively manage a prioritised grants pipeline, funding calendar and evidence bank; draft or coordinate strong applications and reports with the relevant team members.

•  Identify, cultivate and progress aligned partnerships with educators, community organisations, businesses, funders and potential major supporters.

•  Develop a simple major-donor and high-value supporter approach, including prospect research, tailored asks, stewardship and founder-led conversations where appropriate.

•  Connect QH events, programmes, publications and campaigns to meaningful next steps: ongoing learning, regular giving, partnership or deeper involvement.

•  Work closely with the Operations Lead so fundraising promises, timelines, budgets and delivery capacity remain aligned.

•  Provide a concise monthly view of pipeline value, applications/asks in progress, results, next actions and key risks.

First three months: what success looks like

•  A clear 90-day income plan with a small number of priority routes rather than scattered fundraising activity.

•  A live grants, partnerships and major-supporter pipeline with owners, deadlines and next actions.

•  Qur’an Champions and Sustainers journeys ready, launched or materially progressed.

•  A number of high-fit grant applications, partnership conversations and donor asks actively progressed.

•  QH has better visibility over likely income, upcoming opportunities and the evidence needed to support future fundraising.

What you bring

•  Experience in fundraising, partnerships, business development or audience/supporter growth, ideally within a charity, education or community setting.

•  Strong writing and relationship-building skills, with the confidence to make clear asks and follow up consistently.

•  Good judgement about where a small organisation should spend its limited time and where to say “not yet”.

•  Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with a founder, operations colleagues, trustees and freelancers.

•  Respect for the Qur’an-centred mission and the women QH serves.

Working together

This is an initial three-month freelance engagement, designed to test delivery, fit and sustainability. The role will work closely with the Founder/Chair, Operations Lead and trustees as appropriate. At the end of the initial period, QH will review impact, funding and future capacity before deciding whether to extend or increase the engagement.

Across all QH roles we value: sincerity • reliability • good judgement • respectful communication • care for the Qur’an-centred mission
