Senior Officer - Flight Dispatch

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Key Activities

1. Safe and legal flight planning of all company flights, including Zero Fuel Weight (ZFW) estimation, MEL/CDL, and operating environment considerations prior to OFP computation;

2. ETOPS flight planning;

3. Generate complete crew briefing package, i.e. an OFP for each city pair, and a complete weather and NOTAM briefing for the entire trip;

4. Ensure that the PIC is provided with all information necessary for the safety of the flight;

5. Maintain the necessary knowledge of fly Dubai procedures for the proper conduct of Operations Control and Flight Dispatch;

6. Monitor enroute weather/NOTAMs/ATC delays;

7. Enroute flight, navigation, and communication procedures, including procedures for the release or continuance of a flight if any item of aero plane equipment required for the particular type of operation becomes inoperative or unserviceable enroute;

8. Compute the amount of fuel required for the safe completion of flight according to type of aero plane, distance of flight, maintenance limitations, weather conditions and minimum fuel requirements prescribed by GCAA regulations;

9. Prepare flight plans containing information such as maximum allowable take-off and landing weights, weather reports, field conditions and many other operational components required for the safe completion of the flight;

10. Update the PIC with significant changes to weather or flight plan and recommend flight alternatives such as changing course, altitude and, if required, enroute landing in the interest of safety and economy;

11. Work with the NCDM and Senior Manager Flight Dispatch to write and improve on existing internal dispatch procedures.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE/ KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS

Minimum Qualification

• University degree or equivalent

Experience

• 3+ years as a Flight Dispatcher and 5+ years in airline operations.

Knowledge / Skills

• Knowledge of CAP371

Certificate / License required

• A GCAA Flight Dispatcher license or ability to convert a current alternative Flight Dispatcher license/certificate to a GCAA license and Must hold a valid UAE driving license or foreign license that can be converted

Additional Requirements

• Exercise of operational control and flight supervision. In the interest of safety the Flight Dispatch Senior Officer is responsible for the initiation, continuation, diversion, and cancellation (termination) of flights due to operational or environmental factors.
