Job Description

Delta English School is seeking an experienced Head of Science to lead the Department of Natural Sciences. This role involves developing innovative CBSE Science lessons, implementing ICT-centric pedagogies, and enhancing co-curricular initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, academic expertise, and a commitment to student learning and achievement.

Responsibilities:

A. Teaching, Learning and Standards:

  • Collaborate with Delta IQ – Curriculum Engineering team to develop curriculum maps and course syllabuses.

  • Grow the school’s digital repository of STEAM-based Science lessons.

  • Establish KPIs for the Department of Natural Sciences and monitor departmental performance.

  • Implement gamified student engagement strategies and support students with diverse learning needs.

  • Audit teaching and learning practices to ensure compliance with QHSE policies.

B. Strategic Direction and Development:

  • Develop processes to improve departmental performance based on data analysis.

  • Coordinate departmental improvement priorities and budgets.

  • Analyze key findings and present strategic insights to academic and administrative executives.

  • Interface with the school’s Quality Improvement Program panel for continuous refinement of processes.

C. Leading and Managing Staff:

  • Lead, manage, and coordinate departmental activities.

  • Encourage faculty to provide innovative learning initiatives.

  • Grow a team of innovative Science instructors through performance evaluations and new hire requisitions.

  • Participate in recruitment and onboarding of new faculty members.

D. Efficacious Deployment of Resources:

  • Oversee departmental teaching and learning resources.

  • Maintain learning spaces with updated Science posters and bulletins.

  • Enforce QHSE policies and procedures within the department.

  • Manage department budgets and equipment inventory.

Education:

  • Master’s in Physics, Chemistry, or Biology

  • Bachelor’s in Education

Key Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of High School Science teaching experience in CBSE schools

  • Passion for Science and ability to convey enthusiasm to teachers and students

  • Ability to lead medium to large Science teaching and learning projects

  • Strong leadership, communication, and ICT literacy skills

  • Commitment to continuous professional development and school ethos

Preferred (Not Required):

  • Master's or Doctorate in Education

  • 2+ years as Head of Department in CBSE schools

  • Experience as CBSE AISSE and AISSCE contributor/examiner
