Position Summary

This is an exciting opportunity to work for one of the UK’s leading Muslim charities as we continue to expand our online presence.

We are looking for a Senior Graphic Designer to cover an initial twelve months of maternity leave, with the possibility of this period being extended. The successful applicant will be responsible for creating engaging graphics for different marketing channels such as email, blog, website, digital marketing, social media, as well as print brochures, letters and posters for events.

You will work in close collaboration with the communications and marketing teams on smaller weekly campaigns as well as major projects. You will be involved from conception to delivery.

Crucial for this role are great communication and time management skills and flexibility due to the possibility of shifting priorities. The Senior Graphic Designer will be able to come up with creative ideas and refine given briefings to ensure the best possible visual solutions for each project.

Key responsibilities:
  • Work with copywriters to design weekly emails and graphics for the online blog
  • Work closely with the marketing team to design digital and print ads, including for Facebook and Google
  • Create graphics for our TV appeals
  • Create campaign logos and branding in Adobe Illustrator
  • Work closely with the Communications Manager on Muslim Hands’ print mailers, from the initial ideas phase, right through to the final proofing stages
  • Alongside the Events Manager, lead on the visual branding of our events, including marketing assets
  • Create website copy to maximise our conversion rates, search engine optimisation and social media engagement
  • Edit and select images for our website using Lightroom and Photoshop
  • Work closely with other Fundraising team members to create interactive PDF’s documenting field trips
  • Brief our field offices on best design practice and effective visual documentation of our projects abroad
  • Be the first port of call for design ideas and visual branding across the organisation

Essential Skills:
  • Proven work experience as a graphic designer in similar role
  • Expert in Adobe software, especially in InDesign, Photoshop, Lightroom
  • Attention to visual details, especially type setting and visual hierarchy
  • Proven experience in Art-working/ Print-Production
  • Proven experience in Digital Marketing design
  • The ability to work on multiple projects, often to tight deadlines
  • Proven experience in creating illustrations and infographics

Desirable Skills:
  • Interest in illustration and animation
  • Photography skills
  • Motion design skills

General Expectations:
  • To undertake all tasks and duties in an effective, efficient, transparent, and wholly accountable manner
  • To demonstrate Muslim Hands’ values and ethics in own working practices, approach, and conduct.
  • To undertake any reasonable responsibilities as required by line manager
  • To support with fundraising activities from time-to-time, including occasionally helping with Live TV Appeals during our peak periods.
  • NB: This job description is illustrative and non-exhaustive in scope. The post-holder may be required to undertake any reasonable tasks as and when required by Line Manager from time to time, to reflect the changing needs of the organisation.

Other Requirements:
  • Must be able to demonstrate current eligibility to work within the United Kingdom
  • Must be able to provide a valid DBS certificate (issued within the last year) when requested by Muslim Hands; OR Undertake to provide full cooperation for Muslim Hands to perform a DBS Check at the required level appropriate for this / similar role
